Human Emotions and Actions - Confusing

Yes there has been days when I get really confused by the manner in which acts and reacts. A couple of days ago I came to the conclusion that even a simple game of Dumb C can evoke so many emotions. A beginner of the game is utterly confused of how to enact what was given to her! She is also concerned about what others will say about her or her inability to enact her topic properly. This was making things more difficult. Adding to it was the presence of some over confident fellows. They were able to properly enact their scenes. It was all right till then. Then they all tend to make mockery of the new person playing. It may be a playful friendly mockery, but the effect of it may be somewhat different. Maybe the new player will loose all confidence in him/herself, become all the more embarrassed.
When we were kids our parents always taught us not to make fun of anyone's inability or disability. People like me, sensitive and emotional, do take those words seriously and never resort to mockery or fun to belittle others. At times, mockery and fun with friends, within limits, is good. It actually deepens the friendship. But there are situations when such fun may hurt someone's ego and confidence.
For me, everyone is good at something or the other. Then there are some people who can emote well and can speak well while expressing themselves. on the other hand, there are people who tend to keep a lot of things within themselves. So, rather than being judgmental we can, during certain times, keep ourselves in the other person's shoes. It will let us spread our horizon and understanding on a plethora of human emotions, actions and passions. People who are hyperactive, not shy in front of people and quite good in certain things, often tend to boost their ego by making fun of people who does not possess those qualities. Life is not all about ego. People should remember that. At the end, everyone has to die. it's your work that will be remembered and not your mockery. So it is always better to get out of the campus life, understand the various facets of a person, help them overcome their shortcomings and carry on with your good work. It only will boost your confidence, it will also induce a sense of well being. You will also be able to face your conscience and say that you have never hurt anyone intentionally and have tried not to unintentionally as well.

A Democracy of Unsubstantial Votes

The General Election in India, in every sense of the term is a game. It is a game of money and power along with politics. With uncertainties prevailing everywhere and with terrorists taking all measures to disrupt the peace and security of the country, this year the election was seen as a movement for drastic change.
Every political party as well as the media were of the idea that with the Mumbai attacks fresh in the mind, people in large number will participate in this years election. There was mass outcry after the terror attacks on Mumbai. People in large numbers stepped outside the secured life at home and held the government responsible for the attacks. The news channels were fighting with each other over getiing the maximum TRP's by providing every possible details, which were best avoidable under such a situation. Celebrities were all over the places putting forth their views and candlelight vigil became a random sight. So, the general election was thought to be the place where all these angry and disillusioned people will make use of their democratic right to give India a better future. The actual outcome showed a different picture. In Mumbai the voting percentage, surprizingle decreased by 3%. In the 2004 election, the participation of Mumbai netizens was 47%. This year it was a mere 44%. On whole, it was quite a dismal participation throughout India after the first three rounds of voting.
Now my question lies what happened to all the people who retorted the words "Enough is Enough". Voting is your democratic right and is best when majority of the people exercise it. Whether you like politics or not, it is the base of any country. You can create hullabaloo when a crisis situation occurs, but when you can do your share of stop such situations, you simply ignore it. Excuses galore for absenteeism in elections and one such is the weather and the heat wave. Here I want to put forth that my mother, who is at the wrong side of 60 with several health issues, was concerned how whe will go out and vote in this extreme weather. I, being more concerned about her health, told her not to strain herself. In case of extreme weather, it is better to avoid going out. But then whar she told me can be an eye opener for a lot of people. For her it is more of a moral issue, when you have the right of voting why abstain from it? It's only a matter of couple of hours of difficulties which afterwards make you the feel the pleasure of doing your bit for the country. How I wished the people across length and breadth of the country shared similar feelings!
It is perfectly fine to come together and form protest marches, candlelight vigils. I am not against them. Everything said and done, it is also the citizens duty to act as actions always speak louder than words. Voting is a system which you can make use of by exercising your democratic right to vote. So why not use the system to change the system?

Feeling Nostalgic!

For the past two days I have been feeling very nostalgic. It started with listening to songs of some Bangla bands(yes again came back to the topic!). The 'Prahari' song of Parashpathor was always one of my favourites. Got hold of the song couple of days back and started playing it in the loop. Suddenly all the events and occurances of my bygone life became afresh. Started missing my college days, my first crush and much more. Now all of it seems so much of fun and enjoyment, which I detested in those days. The agonies and ecstacies, fun and pain all clouded my mind.
This song is not the only one I am talking about. Songs of bands like Chandrabindoo, Mohiner Ghoraguli, LRB, Miles and Bhoomi always increases make me feel forlorn. To keep records straight my statements does not mean that bengali band music talks only about frustrations and depressions. I don't feel the music of the bands are depressing. It is just the innumerable incidents associated with them and my feeling of missing them that is making me lonesome.
Hey how I wish the days come back to me and rather than detesting them I start enjoyng them all over again to the utmost!

I Am Back !!!

Now its been a very very long time that I posted my first writing. Life after that point of time went through sea changes. First and foremost, from being a happy-go-lucky and carefree spinster now I have evolved into a mature wife ( though the happy-go-lucky and carefree nature still exists).
Suddenly a couple of months ago it strike me that a lot of things are happening in my life. I felt the instant urge of letting people know the comedies and tragedies of my life. I thought it will make for interesting writing ( though not sure whether they will make for interesting reading or not). So, at last at around 4 a.m. in the morning I started reinventing myself by penning down my thoughts.
This is just the beginning. I hope I'll continue with it for a long time and be regular this time. So folks wish me all the luck.

Bengali Bands and its impact on Society

Well to start with I would like to wish all of you "A BELATED HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!" This is my first posting and I would definitely take this opportunity to share my views with you about my passion - MUSIC.......Music has always been my love and passion.....Going back to my childhood days, music has always been an integral part of me.....Today , here, I would love to share my passion for Bengali Band Music with all of you. What results when a land of rich and multifarious literary resource, numerous musical legends and a huge and active middle class encounters a wave of modernization in the musical sphere ?What happens when it brings in new blood into the life of the common man and also encourages the new generation of youngsters to express their emotions, nostalgia, aggression, pain and anguish more zealously in a common channel, a common element that provides solace to all, a sort of release ? The new age Bengali youths seem to have found that release in Bengali Bands. The 500 plus Bangla Rock bands today derive their musical influences from the western legends like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and emulate them. But we should put all credit to the Bangla band Mohiner Ghoraguli for pioneering these so called alternative form of music in Bengal. Though they were not able to grab the crowd during there time, they became the visionary for the upcoming bands. It was there work that showed the path to all of today's popular bands. Today most albums by popular bands sell like hot cakes the moment they hit stores and Band performances draw huge crowds mostly comprising of young school and college-goers as well as age defying music loving uncles and aunties, among the huge melee of youngsters. Bangla music is for everybody.Bangla rockers make sure they retain the distinct Bengaliness in their music in spite of the heavy guitars and drums. It is this blend of western instruments with indigenous lyrics and tunes that imparts Bangla music it’s distinctive charm.Kolkata is able to provide some fine platforms for these bands to perform in and a sizeable audience to perform before. Nazrul Manch, Someplace Else are undoubtedly able to cater to the tastes of the hyper active and enthusiastic audience for English and Bengali music, simlutaneously providing a wide platform for the Bands to showcase their creativity. Pioneering Bands like Chandrabindoo, Cactus, Bhoomi, Fossils,ParashPathor have carved a niche’ for themselves in the Bangla music scenario with their own distinctive style of music and performances. What more could a music loving Kolkatan probably ask for??Bangla band music is like lifeblood for the average Bengali, they can relate to it; most of these popular songs portray the life of an average Bengali and his sentiments, his dreams and ambitions, his heartaches and infatuations, his joy and nostalgia, life and Death. Bangla music today is the life pulse and inspiration for average Bengalis. Men and women behind these bands have given up promising careers as doctors, salesmen, cartoonists teachers, businessmen to come together and make music which has awakened the Bengalis in doing something exclusive and more meaningful. The advent of Bangla Rock has resulted in the birth of a new breed of musicians who are prepared to defy almost any impediment that come their way, be it tradition, critics or even cultural limitations for the sake of music because to them music is a medium that transgresses all limits. To these new age rockers, music means rock and rock……. music.
